“I regard it as the foremost task of education to ensure the survival of these qualities: an enterprising curiosity, an undefeatable spirit, tenacity in pursuit, readiness for sensible self-denial, and above all, compassion”
Kurt Hahn
(founder of Outward Bound)

Dr. Simon Crisp is in demand to provide briefing to leadership staff of independent schools on psychological issues of adolescents and how schools can best respond. Our staff's broad expertise means that most of our consultants have worked in schools and have educational psychology or teaching qualifications. We are strongly committed to early intervention and psychological health promotion, and see teachers and schools as significant contributors to psychological and social development and wellbeing. Dr. Crisp also offers presentations to parents and students on a wide range of topics.

We frequently run training and professional development workshops for teachers in some of Australia's leading independent schools. We are also frequently requested for consultation on specific issues such as counselling services audits, school counsellor supervision and assisting with crises and debriefing for staff and students. We have been closely involved with Monash University's Faculty of Education in researching early detection of, and response to, mental health issues in schools using our innovative Psychological First Response® intervention for teachers and school students.

We have run many social-emotional development, resilience-building, counselling and leadership programs in schools. We have also successfully implemented and evaluated a number of Wilderness Adventure Therapy® programs in schools for at-risk students.

In addition, we readily accept referrals for assessment and counselling from schools. When appropriate, and with consent from parents/student, we work in close collaboration with schools and teachers. Please contact us to make an appointment to meet with one of our consultants, or to discuss your particular needs.

Neo has a long record of consulting to a wide
range of professionals:

Teachers, psychologists, mental health professionals, executives and managers, administrators and government policy makers. We bring many years of expertise in the public and private sector, in large and small organisations, in work-place teams as well as in management and leadership positions.

We facilitate group development with at-risk school students and clinical populations, executive teams and individual managers, through to family and community groups. Our approach is one that recognises the reciprocal importance of individual as well as systemic analysis and organisational development.

Examples of how we've helped professionals:

  • Teachers have found us helpful in developing skills to deal more effectively with challenging students,
  • Mental health professionals have learned to be more creative and to take risks in their therapeutic work with clients,
  • Managers have been guided in developing more effective services and implementing structural and staffing changes,
  • Administrators have been coached on policy development and innovation at an organisational level, and
  • Policy makers have been educated about effective methods and approaches to engage students in education, have an impact on community substance abuse issues, and more effectively reduce suicide risk in young people.

We have been pioneers in developing innovative and effective approaches such as the Psychological First Response® training for human services professionals. Please contact us to make an appointment to meet with one of our consultants, or to discuss your particular needs.
