Wilderness Adventure Therapy®
Professional Development program 2014
What is WAT®? – 7.00-9.00pm Wednesday May 14th *FREE*
A stimulating, comprehensive overview of this manualised, evidence-based therapy for youth and families. The founder and principal researcher, Dr Simon Crisp will describe the methodology, clinical effectiveness and common therapist team challenges arrising from this innovative and powerful intervention. A visual and case-study based presentation will give you a feel for how this program operates clinically and how it impacts adolescent and family participants. There will be time for questions and discussion and information about pathways for training and accreditation (2hrs CPD apply and it’s FREE).
WAT® Experiential workshop
9.30-1.00pm Saturday August 16th - great value at $70 (3hrs CPD apply)
A gentle and fun indoor workshop that gives a first-hand understanding of how effectively facilitated adventure experiences can powerfully mobilise clients towards therapeutic outcomes. Learn practical therapeutic techniques that can be applied in conventional therapy settings with individuals, couples, families and groups. Come and see why groups are so effective with youth.
WAT® Insight Weekend
Friday evening to Sunday afternoon October 10th-12th
$659 all-inclusive* (20hrs CPD apply)
This weekend is for counselling and mental health professionals to immerse themselves experientially in the processes and activities of WAT®. Through opt-in, ‘challenge-by-choice’ experiences, participants will understand how to better utilise fun and peer support for their client’s psychological wellbeing & growth. Dr Simon Crisp will provide in-depth exploration of the therapeutic processes and techniques of WAT® as well as draw on over 1,000 field days of personal clinical experience designing and running WAT® programs.
