Pregnancy Support Counselling

This phase of life usually heralds many significant   and unique changes.  The prospect of having a baby, transition to parenthood, changes in relationships, health and lifestyle, and new emotions, can be exciting but also daunting.  Concerns, preparation and decisions can be addressed through sensitive, non-directive and supportive psychological counselling.

Child & family Psychologist Emma Lund has undertaken the mandatory training required to offer the Non-Directive Pregnancy Support Counselling through the Medicare scheme. She has been trained to support women through pregnancy-related issues, and to provide information about the options and services relevant to her pregnancy concerns.

These counselling sessions are available to assist women who have any personal concerns related to a current or recent pregnancy (within the last 12 months). Personal concerns may include decisions about the future, adjustment following the pregnancy, or general issues related to a pregnancy.

The Medicare Item covers up to three sessions with an accredited Psychologist per pregnancy. A referral for this service results from a GP assessing that a woman has concerns that would benefit from sessions with a Psychologist who is eligible to provide pregnancy support counselling services. If appropriate, partners can also attend the counselling sessions.

Relaxed, Natural Child Birth Education

Are you interested in birthing your baby in a calm and gentle, drug-free way?

Hypnobirthing® is as much a philosophy as it is a technique for achieving a satisfying, relaxing, and stress-free method of birthing.  Understand how birthing muscles work in perfect harmony when your body is sufficiently relaxed.  Learn how to achieve this kind of relaxation, free of the resistance that fear creates.  You will learn to use your natural birthing instincts for a calm, serene and comfortable birth.  Individual and group programs available.

I would highly recommend that pregnant women read the “Birthing Stories” link on the HypnoBirthing Institute website. Research has demonstrated that women who read positive birth stories report less fear about giving birth after reading the stories.
